Lewis & Clark in Southeast Montana          Historic Pompey' s Pillar National Monument

 ..an Eastern Montana perspective

In 1806, Captain William Clark of the Lewis & Clark Expedition carved his signature into this massive sandstone block and named the site for Sacajawea's baby boy, or Pompey's Pillar.  Pompey's Pillar National Monument is on Interstate 94 about a 100 miles west of Miles City, Montana, and "as the crow flies" about 30 miles northwest of Hardin, Montana.

The National Monument is open year around with seasonal exceptions.
